libre graphics meeting

peter sikking and Kamila Giedrojć will present an overview and the first results from our GIMP UI redesign project at the libre graphics meeting, May 4–6 in Montreal.

We will show how the openUsability project has been structured for GIMP, and the specifics of applying usability and interaction architecture methods to an application of GIMP’s calibre.

With the first results we will show how this project addresses and provides solutions for the top‐10 requested GIMP features.

openPrinting team meeting

m+mi works organises a two‐day meeting in Siena, Italy. Part of the openPrinting interaction architecture and usability team met for reviewing the work done up to now and to brainstorm solutions for the design phase, in an inspiring atmosphere.

Our principal architect, peter sikking, has been invited to teach a course at the FH Vorarlberg, Austria. He will teach media design students the practical side of designing for software projects and how to realise the product vision.

The students will work in teams under peter’s guidance for an open source project on new interaction concepts. The results will be presented at the uDay V.

peter says: ‘A real development project, real time pressure, a real presentation; Should be way cool.’
